Real Love And Real Truth

1 John 3:18
Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth.ESV.

Love without Truth is not real love; and Truth without Love is not real truth. For Love and Truth is based on Reality. And Reality without God is a fantasy. For God is the author of Love and Truth.

Love and Truth are not a human creation. Humanity discovers Love and Truth in the world around them and through people. For Love and Truth are the backbone of God’s character. His divine nature exemplifies Love and Truth throughout His creation. When Reality is confirmed, truth is revealed.

Truth is not the perception of an individual nor the feelings of a group of people, but  the repeated outcome of history. Likewise Love is not just an act or feeling, but the servitude attitude of heart toward another person for their success and well-being turned into action.

When one comes to know God, then one also comes to know real Love and Truth. Truth with a capital “T” is a person known today as Jesus Christ. Truth with a small ‘t” are the divine values and principles built upon the Triune God’s character and displayed throughout the creation of the world.

If one wants to know what real Love and Truth is like, then one needs to do business with the Creator of Love and Truth. As a mutual relationship is built between you and HIM, you will come to know HIM better and better each day. You will then come to better discern between real Love and Real Truth because you will have come to know the author of Love and Truth.

Don’t be fooled by the artificial love and faddish truth expounded by this world’s humanistic systems. Instead study the Word of God as revealed in the Bible and come to know HIM who is Love and Truth.

Perfect In Christ

And every priest stands daily at his service, offering repeatedly the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins.  But when Christ  offered for all time a single sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God,  waiting from that time until his enemies should be made a footstool for his feet.  For by a single offering he has perfected for all time those who are being sanctified. Hebrews 10:11-14 ESV.

How many prayers must you offer to God so you feel cleanse of your sins? Or how many good acts of service must you perform so you feel worthy to approach the throne of grace? Or how many dollars must you donate to wash away the guilt that clings to your soul?

The answer: just one may be too many.

What Jesus accomplished at the cross was to free you and me from the daily rituals of sacrificing animals (or whatever) as a peace offering to God. Instead HE paid the price as our substitute one time only to make everything right before our heavenly Father. In Christ, we have been cleansed from all sin for ever more.

Yes we will continue to sin in this life. We will commit sins of omission and commission. We will be the target of sin from others. And we may have to pay the physical consequences of sin. However, our eternal home and relationship with our Heavenly Parent will always be available. There is nothing we can do to make it better or worst. Jesus himself has made it perfect for us. In Him, we have all the riches and treasures of heaven and earth at our disposal. Not because we are perfect, but because He is perfect and through His perfection we are known.

So enjoy your perfection in Christ!

Christian Culture is Not the Kingdom of God

Romans 14:17
For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking but of righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.ESV.

.

A debate among the early church saints about whether or not it is OK to eat unclean food led the apostle Paul to write in a letter which we now classify as the fourteen chapter in the Book of Romans.  The issue included whether or not it is more spiritual to be a vegetarian or not. Paul’s conclusion emphasize that the fruit of God’s Kingdom is not food and drink but righteousness, peace, and joy.

For most of us who have never been exposed to God’s Kingdom, maybe we should hold off judgment until we truly experience the real thing. The closest we may have come would most likely be a Sunday church service among other Christians. Yet even there God’s Kingdom may not be fully operating. Instead we witness a culture where everyone speaks and acts in a Camelot fashion. So where do we go to discover the real McCoy?

The Kingdom of God is HIS reign. Wherever people allow God to be the center of their lives; where HE is served first within all relationships and transactions; where HE is the final judge on all matters; where our hearts and minds and souls yield to HIS Word, HIS priorities, and HIS values; not as we determine but as it is.

Reality composes of knowing HIM. When we gain knowledge of HIS ways, we begin to see HIS Spirit at work in our lives and the lives of others; we begin to experience life the way HE intended to be. As we learn to pray and ask and listen, we begin to see our requests actualized. Dumbfounded but in wonder, we become more and more amazed at HIS ability to bring events into reality.

So where do we find the real McCoy?

Wherever HIS people live, breathe, and serve under the authority of their King Jesus, HE is there. And not only is HE present, but the fruit of the Spirit grows. Like a tree that blooms in the spring time, the impact of HIS Kingdom becomes noticeably alive. It could be in a local church service, or a family gathering, or even in the marketplace at work. What is recognized are the manifestations of God’s Spirit sprouting from the hearts, minds, and souls of people who yield themselves to their King.  That is where you will find His Kingdom.
