Dust & Dirt

“then the Lord God formed the man of dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living creature.”   Gen. 2:7

Woke up this morning and immediately began thinking about one’s mortality. I must have had a dream which now cannot recall. But the weight of the matter was so intense I had to immediately start writing.

Our self-awareness of age doesn’t become of prime importance until such a moment arises. A time which causes us to stop and face reality. Until then we go about doing what one does to stay alive. We work. We eat. We sleep. We go about our normal routine until death crosses our doorway.

When you are young, you feel invincible. But as you age, you begin to take note that some of your friends and associates are no longer with you. You begin to slow down. Your mind isn’t as sharp as it once was. Your muscles and vision slowly dissipate. You find yourself speaking more about the past rather than hoping in the future. You check the calendar for confirmation of today’s year and date. You can’t believe time has gone by so fast since your mother gave birth to you.

Life is precious. The older one becomes, the more one appreciates the work God is doing. He wants a family. An eternal family. As I have stated so often, life is a learning process preparing you for eternity. God has created humanity as part of the birthing process. Like the fetus in a mother’s womb, you and I are being nourished and prepared for birth into heaven’s dimension. This exterior body is being shed away. What will be exposed is the soul and spirit.

The resurrection of our bodies is the outcome of a new birth into a new age.

Our old body consists of chemicals from the earth. Our new bodies will be like Christ’s (1 Corinth. 15:49). As Jesus so often stated. What gives life is the spirit. The flesh without the spirit is dead. So why does it take a lifetime to realize this?

Looking back, my only wish is someone would have explained to me God’s purpose for creation. For birthing you and me. How everyday life takes you closer to either become more like HIM or less. We are HIS children. We are being prepared for HIS family business. We are learning to serve and lead like HIM. Knowing this makes one want to know HIM better. As we get to know HIM better, one’s desire is to become more like our heavenly Dad.

Sin is a religious term which simply means failing to live up to HIS ways. Grace though is HIS way of picking us up and repeating the process until we succeed. This life is a marathon race. As long as one keeps moving toward the finishing line, one wins. This is not because of our talents, skills, and abilities. But because of Jesus Christ’s victory. He has already included us in the winner’s circle.

Yes physical death comes to all. Until then, the only question pertains to our relationship with HIM. Are we ready to meet our heavenly Father?

Born 2 Die Trap

1 Corinthians 15:26

The last enemy to be destroyed is death.

The day life began for you is the same day you entered a trajectory toward the day of your death. If you are reading this, then you haven’t yet arrived to that predictable event. A sobering thought we don’t want to face because of the many questions that arise; especially the big one. What is life all about?

Some of my neighbors believe there is no purpose for life except to enjoy oneself to the max because we are all going to die. Others believe there is a God and we must be good, follow the golden rule, and earn our way unto some next stage beyond death. And others still who believe life is a cycle of reincarnation and never ends. What is life all about?

There are those who we may know have done good their entire life and at the end are suffering with great intensity. Others have lied, cheated, and stolen their way along and now are enjoying their retirement with ease and comfort. What is life all about?

The last time I checked there is not one person who did not leave this planet without first experiencing death. Even Jesus Christ, the resurrected One, died.

Death is the enemy of all humans. We shall all die. But, then what? Why bother to live if there is no meaning, purpose, or something to gain between birth and death?

All these questions and more hit me as a seventeen-year-old senior in high school. Born with the internal clock and fortitude to always start with the end goal in mind led me to search for answers. In a way, it is how God led me to Him.

When you peel off the onion of life and seek logical answers, you find you are not alone. Much has been written by thousands of others who have travelled a similar journey. Some came back with the same conclusion as I; but others not. This is how my journey started and eventually led to become an apprentice of Jesus Christ.

The more we studied into His life and the more we focused to walk with Him, the more real His teachings become alive. With the hindsight of history to view the interconnecting points, and actually see a pattern of consequences turn into a path of spiritual fruit, one becomes more confident in a God who is working out some master plan between all the chaos and noise which surrounds each of us.

The Triune God becomes more and more real each day. Love, Joy, Grace are no longer words of the mind, but an inner treasure of riches longing to be distributed with others. The Master Designer is not way off in the furthest corner of the universe, but personally involved with each human child. He longs to dance, celebrate, and share His riches with each of us. But as a parent, He also wants us to grow up, enjoy the experiences of life, and be successful in all we do.

Death is only the end of one stage of God’s masterful plan for humanity. From the foundation of the world, His plan was to adopt humanity into the Triune fold. Sin is only a blip on God’s project plan. He has already taken care of the matter. Death is another blip on His master plan. He has also already taken care of that matter. When the music ends, what comes next?

You and I were born to live for eternity. God has placed that concept into our inner being. Like a fetus in the womb of a pregnant mother, humanity is waiting for the fullness of time when the baby is ready to escape from the inner chamber of a mother’s custody into a new world.

The trap is thinking that this life is all there is. No purpose; No meaning; No God. Such a life will miss out having a bonding relationship with their Parent, and the fruit which comes from such an interconnecting, social cord. My heart yearns for others who are missing out on experiencing the richness of life through the means God has given us. This is His story. His production. His plan. The sooner we come to realize who He truly IS, the quicker we shall experience and taste the fruit of how He always intended humanity to live.

No trap; just an inner confidence to experience life today and forever with Father-Son-Holy Spirit and His adopted children in whatever He is preparing us for.

Who is Our #1 Enemy?

“The last enemy to be destroyed is death.” I Corinthians 15:26 ESV.

risen 1

When Jesus Christ arose from the pits of the grave, he accomplished several key strategic moves for the battle over planet earth. He defeated Satan and in return took back the earthly domain from mankind’s thorn in the flesh. He fulfilled the requirements of the Jewish Law and in the process rip the curtain that hung between God and humanity restoring direct relationship between each. He also defeated death being raised by His Father as a new creation: flesh and spirit united as one eternal being.

This Easter season also reminds us who is humanity’s #1 common enemy. Whether we are believers or non-believers, male or female, rich or poor, saints or sinners, democrats or republicans, Paul writes that the last enemy that Christ will place under his authority is death.

Physical death lays at the end of life’s journey. No matter how many toys we accumulate, friends we have, children we raise, businesses we develop, money we earn, recognition we receive, and awards we are given, death comes to all.

Yet we can rejoice knowing that God in Christ broke the chains of sin’s domain and restored our fellowship with the Creator of heaven and earth. That in Christ we have died with him and in Christ we have already arisen to a new life. That in Christ our eternal home awaits us. That Christ died for all humanity so that all humanity may also live with him. On that day after our last physical breath, like Christ, we will commit our spirit into the Father’s hand and await for the time of full restoration when all who have died will be resurrected unto a new world. When the age of man will be behind us and the new age of the spirit/human will travel throughout the universe on missions representing our King.

Jesus described our future home as a large mansion with many rooms; John describes one city with gold streets; and Paul concludes that this perishable body must put on the imperishable and then death will be swallowed up in victory (I Corinthians 15:35-58).

So knowing the love, grace, and peace we have in Christ, let’s celebrate Easter and everyday as we calmly walk in Christ towards victory over the #1 enemy of mankind.
