“Where is the promise of his coming? 2 Pt 3:4 ESV.
Can we believe Jesus?
Jesus at different times is quoted that he will return. Not only did he state that he will return from the grave, and did, but he stated he will return at the end of this age. When that will be, no one knows for sure. However, we know that God doesn’t lie.
As the writer of 2 Peter addressed his audience, some of them questioned his return then. How did the writer respond? He pointed at creation. Without getting into all the scientific aspects of the physical world around us, he (or her) acknowledged that creation must have had a beginning: a divine designer. So just as God created the world at the beginning, he will return at the end to complete the task.
For many of us though, it will be sooner rather than later. For death closes this chapter. The resurrection begins the next. So don’t lose sight of Jesus’ promise. He will return.
