Capacity, Challenge, Change

For nothing will be impossible with God.” Luke 1:37 ESV.

capacity-1

How does a woman become pregnant without the male sperm? Impossible you say?

How does one man defeat the most powerful nation in the world without an army? Impossible you say? How does a teenage shepherd defeat the strongest warrior of his day? Impossible you say?

When faced with a major challenge in our life, don’t we naturally first focus on ourselves? We quickly realize how small and insignificant we truly are in comparison to the problem that faces us. However, when we turn our minds away from ourselves and toward God, what do we see? What do we know? What happens when faith comes alive?

When we realize we do not have the capacity to handle the challenge, God does. When we acknowledge Him, turn to Him, and ask Him, He loves to take His unlimited source of power and reveal more of Himself to us.

When He reminds us He is larger than the challenge we face, don’t we lean on Him more? As we lean on Him, His Spirit works within us transforming His Godly character into us. Then we come to the place we truly realize that nothing is impossible with God.

What was once a colossal challenge is now a tiny mole on a gnat. The circumstances may be the same, but our perception has changed. We now see God and His work in our life from His reference point.

Our capacity grows to meet every challenge we face because He live in us. We change our minds acknowledging our helplessness before Him. He then takes our brokenness and renews our life into His image for our sake and for the sake of others. What seems impossible at the moment is quickly displaced with the same faith that Jesus Christ materialized throughout his earthly life.

We don’t know how or when, but we do know the impossible is quickly replaced with the possible. Our capacity is not in ourselves, but in the Triune God. Our challenge is not the insurmountable problem we currently face, but our lack of trust in the God who loves to transform the impossible into the possible. Doesn’t it all begin when we change our perception of who GOD IS?
