Christmas, Government, God

Isaiah 9:6

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

U.S. News recently wrote an article regarding the mass social demonstrations taking place around the world. From Hong Kong to Europe, from Iran to South America, people are expressing their unhappiness with their situation against the government. Large crowds are showcasing their displeasure and frustration through the streets. Those in government realize they need to appease the people or they may lose their power. The question is how without surrendering their hold on the people.

Six hundred years before the birth of Jesus Christ, and approximately one hundred years before Israel was taken captive by the Babylonian empire, the prophet Isaiah wrote the above words which now is common verbiage with Hallmark cards. A prophecy that points to God’s government under the leadership of Jesus Christ.

When Jesus made his public appearance, his main message pertained to government. He spoke about the difference between God’s Kingdom and the current rule. Since the beginning of time, government has always been the issue between people. We have had families, tribes, nations, and empires with various forms of government. They have all failed in due time. The one government however that has outlasted all others is the Kingdom of God.

God’s Kingdom is a government based from the central heart of God via His Spirit. A government which provides law and order for relationships between people. Whether we are speaking about the law and order between individuals or nations, the Kingdom of God is relevant to how people maneuver between each other for the greater good and for self-interest.

God’s government is an outflow of His character. When we make the effort to put His ways before our natural inclinations, His impact is felt. Though short term there may be struggles and pain, the long-term outcome always flourishes. God’s way allows humans to flourish within boundaries established for the common good. Historically we have seen glimpses of His ways among the people. Daniel and Solomon from the Old Testament highlight people living within secular environments yet flourishing.

Christmas time reminds us that a world government with a benevolent King has already been born, prepared for leadership, and is now executing His plan to fully establish His law and order on His planet. Today, those of us who have surrendered to His kingship are experiencing the riches of His bountifulness. Tomorrow, everyone who chooses Him as their King will likewise experience the richness of His leadership.

Wherever you are, you have been given the privilege and honor to build a colony under the Kingdom of God. From your family to workplace, from your local community to national politics, you have been given all the resources you need to unlock God’s government with all the people in your world.   As Paul writes in Colossians, everything was made by Jesus Christ, through Jesus Christ, and for Jesus Christ.  Christmas is a time to celebrate Him. Enjoy the day in Him.

Merry Christmas!

Inclusiveness of Jesus Christ

Matthew 6:9

“This, then, is how you should pray: “‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name…

Is it too bold to state all humanity is included in the relationship Christ has with HIS Father? Didn’t HE teach HIS disciples when they prayed to address God as “OUR Father”?

Is it safe to say God will judge all humans through Jesus Christ as those who belong to God through Him? If so then, are not all humans, in spite of themselves, loved, forgiven, and included in Jesus Christ, who is their Lord and Savior?

Isn’t it also true, God’s love will never cease or diminish even for those who, denying the reality of who they are in him, refuse his love and consign themselves to hell?

If they choose not to enjoy the fruit of his salvation, will they not experience his love as wrath?

Doesn’t God discipline those he loves so that they will return to him and live? Isn’t HE portrayed in the Book of Revelations as standing at the door and knocking, urging people to open the door to his everlasting love?

In the end, doesn’t God’s judgment in Christ mean the ultimate end of evil and the renewal of the earth and all creation?

As the prophesied Savior of humanity, did he not suffer and die for all human sin, was raised bodily from the dead, and ascended to heaven?

At the time, didn’t HE take on our broken and alienated humanity and included the entire human race in his right relationship with the Father?

At the time, didn’t his regeneration of our humanity allow us to share in his son-ship, being adopted as God’s own children in the Power of the Spirit?

Today as our representative and substitute, doesn’t HE stand in for all humanity before the Father, providing the perfect human response to God on our behalf and reconciling humanity to the Father?

Will HE not come again in glory as King of kings and Lord of lords over all nations?

When I read scripture, I read how inclusive Jesus Christ’s life and message pertains to all humanity. How we respond though is what separates us from HIM, not HIM from us. He died for all, but not all have accepted HIS reality. Have you?

Evil. Suffering. Death.

Psalm 23:4

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I fear no evil, for You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.

evil suffering death

Modern technology and science are amazing. In my short lifetime, I have witnessed the advent of the computer, smart phone, and internet. I have seen medical breakthroughs; spaceships to the moon and beyond; and pictures of galaxies millions of miles from earth. The knowledge and pace of new inventions just keep on growing.

Yet I have also seen the austerities of evil between people and the unfruitful suffering of helpless parents and children. Like those who have gone before us, I have also experienced the brevity of life. Bodily death awaits us all.

As a people, we are taught the solution for all our problems are through science or a better form of government, or more education. Yet evil, suffering, and eventually death continues to freely express themselves throughout our neighborhoods as each of these areas grow.

There are those who want a one-world ruling government but can’t agree on the form of government. Would it be a democracy or socialist or communistic?  What would the prevailing religion be – Christianity, Muslim, Judaism, Hindu, etc.? Which language would prevail?

Then there are those, like myself, who realize the solution lies with Jesus Christ. But most people poo-poo the solution. What can a man who lived 2000 years ago provide a practical solution today they ask? Christianity has been around for 2,000 years and what has it produced? Religion is the superstition of the people many world leaders have claimed. What makes Jesus Christ different?

Imagine if Jesus Christ was properly taught and lived-out in the classroom today in every country? They would come to realize who He truly was, is, and will be. They would recognize his kingship and domain. His family connection with God the Father and Holy Spirit. The rule of love and justice and mercy would prevail. Instead of serving one’s desires, one would learn to love Father God that Jesus introduced us too. The culture would seek solutions to live life to the fullest without causing damage to the minds and souls of their inhabitants. Business would focus on providing services and products worthy of the monetary investment without causing harm to the environment.

Every person would fully understand their purpose for life and how they can best serve others in the process. Nations would help nations to grow and prosper. Everyone would acknowledge Jesus as King; the earth his domain; and we his subjects. His decrees built from a position of love and truth would prevail. Lies, deceit, and murder would be banished along with the chief instigator – Satan.

What we have here is God’s solution to our temporarily problem of evil, suffering, and death. Jesus Christ is returning. And with him is the full establishment of his Kingdom. This is what I look forward too. When mankind and the divine walk hand-in-hand and fully express life together in a world where everyone flourishes and lives in peace and harmony.

Meanwhile today we are blessed to create small heavenly colonies where we now have a foretaste of the world tomorrow promised by our God; and privileged to witness those around us what life with God is all about. There is a time for every purpose under heaven…and yes even one day evil, suffering, and death will be no more.
