Help, Hope, Hallelujah (H3)

Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need. Hebrews 4:16

For to this end, we toil and strive, because we have our hope set on the living God, who is the Savior of all people, especially of those who believe. 1 Timothy 4:10

Then I heard what seemed to be the voice of a great multitude, like the roar of many waters and like the sound of mighty peals of thunder, crying out, “Hallelujah! For the Lord our God the Almighty reigns. Revelation 19:6

Raise a Hallelujah – Bethel Lyrics

In reflection today, after taking time to pray, I found myself repeating these words – Help, Hope, and Hallelujah – several times crying for help from our Lord and simultaneously praising HIM for everything happening in my life.

I didn’t plan on repeating these words, and don’t recall when I may have combined the three together in one prayer, but today was one of those days.

When you need help from someone because the issue you are facing is larger than you; when your situation has turned bleak and the options don’t look favorable; or when you realize you haven’t celebrated anything about life for a long while, your heart simply cries emotionally the words you feel at the moment, and these three hung out there for the Lord to hear.

Now my problems aren’t anything compared to the many trials my brothers and sisters face each and every day, but today was one of those days where my world felt over loaded.  Without getting into details, today was one of those days where my little portion of the Kingdom was being overran by invisible, mental gremlins. For the moment, I had taken my eyes off the central core of my being, Jesus Christ. When I do, all the problems, trials, and tests of life seem overwhelming. All I want to do is quit the race, enter a monastery, and reflect on life rather than live it out.

I think most of you know what I mean.

Yet, as a Christ-follower, blessed with the experience of continual answered prayers, the knowledge and awareness of HIS presence on a regular basis, and the assurance given me through HIS Word and the heavenly fruit produced in me, I do have those days where one gets tired of hanging in there to finish the race.

One of my favorite Scriptures is Mark 13:13 – one who endures to the end will be saved. And Romans 5:4 where Paul writes endurance produces character, and character produces hope.

Yes, I am thankful when those overwhelming days come upon us, we have a Savior and Helper who provides us with Hope, and we can thank HIM with multiple Hallelujahs for hearing us and providing the resources to whither the storms in our lives.

So, if you are having one of those H3 days, and haven’t yet learned the joy of turning to HIM in prayer, why not put HIM to the test. You have the privilege to speak with the Creator of Heaven and Earth and ask HIM for assistance with your issues. He waits at the door and knocks (Rev. 3:20). You only have to open the door and HE will gladly join you in your corner of the world as you join HIM in HIS. Help, Hope, Hallelujah are all found in HIM.

But…God

Ephesians 2:4

But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy…

If you want an encouraging Bible study some weekend, take the words “but God” and conduct a Scriptural journey through the Old and New Testament. You will recount all the difficult problems and impossible challenges others have faced with the only solution coming from God’s intervention. You will discover circumstances that would be ridiculous except for God’s hand on the matter. And you will find human platitudes renounced by God’s truth.

But God means there is a higher authority who has last say on the matter. But God gives hope when hope seems lost. But God establishes a standard higher than ours.

How often during our day we come across a challenge or difficulty which is humanly overwhelming if God wasn’t in the picture? If the solution was solely up to me, I would most often drop below the tank. But God reminds me who has last say on the matter.

But God allows us to witness HIS steadfast love and mercy in times of need and times of plenty. So, remember, no matter the challenge or problem, God has the last say. And you have a direct link with HIM. Engage HIM. You may not like HIS answer, but you will know in hindsight it was the best answer at that time and place.

Celebrate Life

Ecclesiastes 9:4

For whoever is joined with all the living, there is hope; surely a live dog is better than a dead lion.

celebrate1

As long as you are alive, you have hope for the future. No matter your circumstances, God’s grace abounds everywhere. Nothing is hidden from Him; nothing escapes Him, nothing limits Him. He created you to live life to the fullest; to experience His love, and fulfill your potential.

Our challenge most often is to get out of the way. We think our plans and solutions are the best ones not realizing there just may be a better way. Our pride and insecurity often prevent us from yielding ourselves to His instructions. We falsely believe no one knows us better than ourselves. What we fail to realize so often is how blind and ignorant the self so easily becomes. We all need a mentor; someone who has gone before us and can show us how it is done.

Life is for the living, not for the dead. As long as we are alive, we can celebrate the life given to us by our Creator. We may not enjoy our current situation and circumstances may temporarily be in stink mode, but we have hope in a Savior – His name is Jesus.

He lived life to the fullest. He introduced us to His Father. He taught us the reality of life in His Kingdom. He intervenes for us. He shares His life with us. He gives us purpose and meaning to celebrate life the way our Creator initially designed the world to be.

Yes, there will be disappointments. Yes, expectations fail. Yes, circumstances change. But through everything, the Triune God cares for you and wants you to share in their life. As we lean on Him, His character, divine nature, and attributes rubs unto you. You become more of a “little Christ.” The joy & peace He instills in you begins to uncontrollably overflow unto others. Your love for others is more fully expressed in your desire to help them succeed. Life becomes more than just about survival. Life becomes a celebration of what God has done, is doing, and will yet do.

Always remember, as long as you are alive, you have hope for the future because God’s Love is greater than anything this world throws your way!   This is our reason for celebrating life each and everyday.
