Reality of Life

“In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you?” John 14:2

Life is God’s most precious gift to us. Somewhere back in time, you and I were not here. Today, we are breathing with the living. Somewhere in the future, our body will no longer take breath on planet earth. Between the time we are born until the day we die, we have the privilege and blessing to experience human life.

How we experience life in most cases is subject to what meaning and purpose we place on our existence. If we believe in a Creator God, then we accept HIS plan for life. If we do not believe in a divine being but life is a happen chance, then we operate from a position of being our own god. Whichever route we choose will determine the outcome of one’s life experience.

One life lesson I learned from business is to build teams and processes with best practices. My first major business project, I started by re-creating “the wheel.” After working super long hours and taking many arrows in the back, I knew there must be a better way to do the task at hand. My mentor saw my pain and made a quick suggestion that changed the way I would pursue life thereafter. Why re-create the wheel? Instead, why not gather the best practices already implemented by others. Then make small modifications to fit your situation.

This same approach that worked in the business world also works in everyday life. When you review all the worldviews, Christianity explains life better than the others. The Bible is the number one seller each year for a reason. When one lives the lessons of forty authors all inspired by the same God, life becomes an adventure built on solid ground. One is able to customize the best practices of life into one’s personal world.

You discover the One God of humanity. You learn HIS purpose for your life. You accept HIS declaration to be adopted into HIS family. You gladly surrender and sacrifice your personal agenda to support HIM and HIS ways. You become engaged with Papa God, Lord Jesus, and Holy Spirit. Your everyday world expands. You join others sharing the good news of Jesus with those who haven’t yet seen what you have. You learn to dance with the God-Man in your daily routines of life. As you hang out with the Divine, your spirit and soul become more patterned after the image of Jesus. You are being prepared for eternity with HIM.

What happens after this life is yet to be determined. As a believer, my faith and hope are connected with Jesus of Nazareth. The God-Man who claimed to be divine. Who substantiated HIS claim through a resurrection from the dead. And verifies HIS claim every day by the Spirit living in those who believe. HE lives in us today. We have been promised our spirit will be with HIM after we take our last breath. Then we wait to share in the resurrection of all humanity. When God will judge and assign HIS children new responsibilities. This is the fruit of living life with God.

For those who choose not to live with God, reality is painfully different. Judgement will hurt. Your will, will be done.

Life is precious. You are unique. God has a place prepared for you. But HE only wants those who are willing to share in HIS life HIS way. Rebels are welcome as long as they surrender to HIM and HIS way!

My Last Grape Tomato

John 6:27

“Do not work for the food that perishes, but for the food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give to you. For on him God the Father has set his seal.”

I enjoy eating grape tomatoes. Most days I eat about ½ dozen of them with eggs in the morning and then again in the evening with a salad. So, when I woke up this morning, for whatever reason, the first thought in my head was, “when will I eat my last grape tomato?

Now I’m not sure what I was dreaming about when sleep was interrupted, but as an inexperienced amateur psychologist, I’m sure it must have been a correlation between grape tomatoes and the end of life.

For life as we know in this body will come to an end. And when life in this age ends, everything we may have enjoyed will likewise end. And that includes eating my last grape tomato.

Yet, the Spirit that lives in us will continue. How do I know? Because Jesus exemplified the same when he died and committed his Spirit to HIS Father in heaven. And just like he was resurrected into a new body, I await for the same resurrection and new body to begin the next chapter and adventure with our Perfect Father and Elder Brother.

Meanwhile, I get to taste heavenly samples of God’s food today. Just like I enjoy the taste and nutritional value of grape tomatoes, I also now participate and enjoy the spiritual nourishment of eternal food.

For example, take God’s love which HE showers upon us daily. His love surrounds us through HIS creation. When like minded people with HIS Spirit touch our spirit, there is the fellowship and comradeship which enlightens the fire within us. Plus, God’s love being manifested through HIS constant grace granting us favor at times of need is a reminder HE truly cares for each of us. The assurance of HIS faithfulness and commitment that HE will complete the work HE has started in you and me gives more hope for the future.

As HIS love abounds in us, one cannot hold back to share HIS love with others. Through words, touch, and acts of service, God’s love is extended in the people we meet. They are introduced to a way of life that enriches the soul now and prepares the heart for a future of hope and joy.

Yes, the body needs physical nutrition. But likewise, the soul needs spiritual rejuvenation. And both are gifts from God for our enjoyment. As long as we live, we get to enjoy grape tomatoes. But one day, we will eat our last one.

Then all the unnecessary anxiety and worry we carried will be behind us. All the projects on our to do list will no longer matter. All the self-inflicted battles over our weight and physical challenges will be no more, and the much grace required people in our life will find rest without us.

Everything we enjoyed and suffered until then will be bundled up and put away. Instead, we will take up the mantle and begin a new chapter, with a new body, and a new assignment. We will take hold of all the spiritual riches which up to then we only tasted and begin to fully realize the potential God has given us to serve HIM and complete HIS plans as we move into the new age with our Lord.

Yes, this thoughtful reminder started first thing this morning when I considered the last grape tomato I will ever eat. Who truly understands how the Spirit really works through our minds?

What is God’s Greatest Expression of His Love?

Psalm 34:12

Who is the man who desires life and loves length of days that he may see good?

life

Life. God created you for eternal habitation with Him. Without life you wouldn’t know God, family, nor anything. You wouldn’t exist. In my opinion, Life is God’s greatest expression of His Love. He created the universe to be inhabited. He created earth to be inhabited. He created humanity to share in His life. Everything created by Him is love being fulfilled. Without life, there is no experience of love, God, nor anything.

Even when humanity rebelled against Him, He intervened. He elected Himself as an atoning sacrifice. Jesus Christ is God’s continual expression of his love for us. God came in flesh to experience life in human skin.  He now has a better understanding of you and me because he lived it out. Christ’s entire life was lived out so you and I could see how life is meant to be lived. His life, death, and resurrection culminated into humanity’s relationship being restored with God.

Life comes only from life. Science has not yet discovered the missing link where matter becomes life. Even they acknowledge that life is born only from a living entity. As the Book of Genesis stated, God breathed into man and he became a living soul. As physical life only comes from physical life, eternal life only comes from eternal life. As Jesus stated to Nicodemus, one must be born again by the Spirit. Life comes from life.

God’s greatest gift to humanity is life. He created physical life with people with free-will because He wanted to share his life and love with each of us. But relationship is a two-way street. It takes two to tango. And God freely gives us life and waits to see if we want to share life with Him. For those who do, eternal life awaits them. For those who do not want to be in relationship with Him, he will oblige. Hopefully, you have come to a point in your world where God’s love wins you over. For after you have a small taste of His love and life, you can’t live without. He is Love and Life in one.
