Celebrate Life

Ecclesiastes 9:4

For whoever is joined with all the living, there is hope; surely a live dog is better than a dead lion.

As long as you are alive, you have hope for the future. No matter your circumstances, God’s grace abounds everywhere. Nothing is hidden from Him; nothing escapes Him, nothing limits Him. He created you to live life to the fullest; to experience His love, and fulfill your potential.

Our challenge most often is to get out of the way. We think our plans and solutions are the best ones not realizing there just may be a better way. Our pride and insecurity often prevent us from yielding ourselves to His instructions. We falsely believe no one knows us better than ourselves. What we fail to realize so often is how blind and ignorant the self so easily becomes. We all need a mentor; someone who has gone before us and can show us how it is done.

Life is for the living, not for the dead. As long as we are alive, we can celebrate the life given to us by our Creator. We may not enjoy our current situation and circumstances may temporarily be in stink mode, but we have hope in a Savior – His name is Jesus.

He lived life to the fullest. He introduced us to His Father. He taught us the reality of life in His Kingdom. He intervenes for us. He shares His life with us. He gives us purpose and meaning to celebrate life the way our Creator initially designed the world to be.

Yes, there will be disappointments. Yes, expectations fail. Yes, circumstances change. But through everything, the Triune God cares for you and wants you to share in their life. As we lean on Him, His character, divine nature, and attributes rubs unto you. You become more of a “little Christ.” The joy & peace He instills in you begins to uncontrollably overflow unto others. Your love for others is more fully expressed in your desire to help them succeed. Life becomes more than just about survival. Life becomes a celebration of what God has done, is doing, and will yet do.

Always remember, as long as you are alive, you have hope for the future because God’s Love is greater than anything this world throws your way!   This is our reason for celebrating life each and everyday.

Broken Bodies, Pristine Souls

And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell. Matt. 10:28 ESV.

This life goes by quickly.

It seems only like yesterday we graduated from high school, married, raised a family, and retired from work. Today, we barely recognize the same man in the mirror.

Hard muscles, trim abs, and smooth skin is now replaced with soft hands, a stout belly, and  bruised wrinkles. The aging process reinforces inner beauty over outer dress. The character of soul easily replaces the facade of dress.  Bodies that at one time were fully functional are now dragging along. Yet beauty becomes more alive as the soul of life takes preeminence.

We have all witness those who are physically challenge do what we believe is the impossible. Without mentioning names, there are those who have no arms nor legs yet fully  function within society. There are those wheel chair bound yet move about experience everything good that life has to offer. There are those who are blind, yet travel through life seeing more than you and I.

Physical limitations are just that – self-imposed strait jackets we place upon  ourselves. The real battle begins at the soul level. This is where the emphasis is on our heart, mind, and character. Every long lasting triumph worth pursuing begins here. Today we may call it attitudes, smarts, and inner muscle. The Bible calls these a matter of the heart, wisdom for the mind, and godly character developed through life’s battles.

The bottom-line – teach your children and grandchildren to first focus on developing the soul. Let them discover the hidden nuggets written through the pages of the Bible. Learn to listen and follow the Spirit of God. And develop a Jesus-Centered, Incarnate Triune God worldview. The end result? A soul that will positively influence every aspect of your life.

Why Theology Matters?

“Now these Jews were more noble than those in Thessalonica; they received the word with all eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see if these things were so.” Acts 17:11 ESV.

theology-11

Theology is simply the study of God. And just like all other fields of study, there are proven methods and techniques to help one accumulate knowledge, understanding, and wisdom of the subject matter.

So why is the study of theology important?

Because good theology draws you closer to the God who created reality. Good theology opens one’s eyes to know Him more intimately. Good theology is the basis of building a stronger framework to make life physically, socially, and spiritually richer.

On the other hand, poor theology distorts your relationship with the Creator and therefore reduces your potential to live a full, meaningful life. Instead of living ones full human potential, poor theology robs the person from fully knowing himself. Poor theology typically focuses more on illusion rather than reality.

The further away one is from the central core of reality, the further one’s theology of God becomes distorted.

Good theology comes from living the with-God life. Bad theology (or no theology) is living life by keeping God a distance away from you. Good theology hugs God every time you meet. Poor theology is pushing God away.

When one begins to develop a relationship with the Author of Life, one wants to know everything one can about Him. And the more you hang out with Him, the more He reveals Himself to you.

Don’t be afraid of theology. Everyone is a theologian. The question is which type do you want to be?
